2007 International Excellence Awards AnnouncedAnnounced: April 2, 2007
The International Programs Office is pleased to announce the 2007 International Excellence Awards. Dr. David B. Prior, Executive Vice President and Provost is hosting a reception at the Stark Gallery on Wednesday, April 4 to recognize five outstanding Texas A&M faculty and staff, a student, a team and a community member for their contributions this past year to international efforts at Texas A&M University. The 2007 recipients include faculty members Dr. Ian Weber, assistant professor, Department of Communication in the College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Patricia Wiese, clinical assistant professor, Department of Teaching Learning and Culture in the College of Education and Human Development; and Dr. Jeffrey Musser, assistant professor, Department of Veterinary Pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine. One Administrator and one Staff award will be presented to Mr. Joseph Pettibon, assistant provost for Student Financial Aid and Ms. Evonne Crocker, financial specialist in Financial Management Operations. A Student Award will go to Ms. Megan Lapham, president of the International Student Mentor Association a senior in Business Administration with a certificate in International Business. The team award for 2007 goes Dinning Services, headed by newcomers Nadeem Siddiqui and Gary Arthur, and this year a Community Award will be presented to Mr. Royce Hickman the President and CEO of the Bryan- College Station Chamber of Commerce. The International Programs Office initiated the International Excellence Awards in 1992 to recognize the efforts of faculty, administrators, staff members and others who have shown excellence in promoting international education, developing international linkages, or establishing cultural awareness opportunities on campus and in the community even though their job description does not require them to do so. To date more than 100 individuals and many teams have been recognized for their international excellence. According to Dr. Emily Y. Ashworth, Associate Vice President for International Programs, all of the 2007 award recipients have gone above and beyond the call of duty in promoting international education, facilitating cultural awareness on campus and creating a welcoming environment for international faculty, scholars and students of Texas A&M University. The campus and community are invited to the reception and ceremony honoring the 2007 recipients on Wednesday, April 4 at 3:00 p.m. in the Stark Gallery. The awards presentation begins at 3:30 p.m. |
