Call for International Research Travel Assistant Grant and International Curriculum Development Grant Proposals

Announced: January 09, 2007

The Office of the Vice President for Research and the International Programs Office are pleased to announce a call for proposals for the International Research Travel Assistance Grant (IRTAG) and the International Curriculum Development Grant (ICDG).

The joint efforts of these offices to encourage international research by the faculty of Texas A&M University provide a total of $20,000 of non-state funds each semester for the International Research Travel Assistance Grant program.

The IRTAG helps to fund international travel to carry out scholarly research. Projects involving collaborative efforts with researchers in foreign institutions and those that expand the University’s reputation and linkages abroad are favored. Proposals may include travel anywhere outside the United States.

The ICDG program provides funding of $2,500 of non-state funds each semester for support of faculty for the purpose of creating new courses, or redesigning existing ones, to embrace an international perspective. Courses may be proposed for teaching out-of-country or on the home campus. Study abroad courses need to be designed so that they can be taught both overseas and in College Station.

These grants are open to all Texas A&M University tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as distinguished and senior lecturers with a 50 percent or greater appointment in College Station or Galveston. Funding for the grant will be available by May 1.

The application process is now completely online. Visit the informative grant web site as soon as possible to familiarize yourself with the process. There is a helpful online application checklist that will take you step-by-step through the online process. For this and other grant information, go to the International Programs web site: http://international.tamu.edu/ipo/facultyframe.html.

The deadline for electronically submitting applications for the IRTAG is Thursday, February 16, 2007.
